TIES Program:
The Transition to Independence, Employment and Success Program (TIES). We wanted to follow up with an email about the program to share with chamber members. Please let us know if we can provide any additional information that might be helpful.
The TIES program is for students with disabilities who have met their high school credit requirement (18 up to 21 years old) but need additional vocational, independent living, and/or life skills. We will be using the Project LIFE framework to help teach our student interns the skills that they need for independence and employment.
Each day, our interns will spend time both in the classroom and on a job site. The classroom portion will be based in our new facility at Eisenhower High School and will be focused on learning soft skills, independent living skills, job safety, etc. When our interns are on a job site, they will be wearing a Project Life uniform and a skills trainer will accompany them. The interns participating in Project Life could live in any of our special education cooperative member districts (Goddard, Cheney, Clearwater and Conway Springs). As much as possible, we would like to provide job opportunities to our students within their own communities. I’ve attached a flier about our program in case that is helpful.
Goddard Academy Mentoring Program:
Goddard Academy and Lakeside Academy would like your help! The intention of Academy Connections is for our students to have adult mentors available that are willing to share their story. We know if a student has a positive relationship with at least one adult in their
life, the student’s chances of staying in school and graduating grow tremendously. We want to #beatyesterday!
We are looking for community members that are dedicated to expanding opportunities for our young adults, it is our goal to have mentors in diverse fields, with diverse backgrounds and to provide students with the opportunity to gain and refine important skills — such as problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking — that can benefit them as they to enter the workforce or go onto college.

Luncheons are scheduled monthly on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Luncheon tickets are $10.00 monthly for all members through silver and $8.00 for Gold and Platinum when registered and PAID in advance.
Reservations paid at the door, walk-ins and non-Chamber members (unless a guest of a Chamber member) are $12.00.
